Mom of 6-year-old twins dies of coronavirus despite careful habits

A British mother of twin 6-year-old boys has died of the coronavirus although she had no underlying health problems and had taken “every precaution under the sun,” according to a report.
Caroline Saunby, 48, of New Marske, North Yorkshire, died Sunday, leaving behind her kids, Joseph and Elliot, her husband Vic, parents Megan and Colin, and four siblings, according to the Northern Echo.
Her twin sister Sarah Jarvis said the family has been “ripped apart.”
“We have always been a extremely close family, so much so that most of us live on the same estate just a few minutes walk from one another,” Jarvis told the news outlet.
“She was a friend to hundreds and was the most genuine and generous person in the world,” the grieving sister added.
Saunby — whom Jarvis described as a “germophobe and obsessive hand-washer” — first began exhibiting symptoms on March 26, but thought her sore throat was due to tonsillitis.
The following day, her condition worsened and by Sunday, she developed difficulty breathing.
After collapsing at home, Saunby was put on a ventilator and rushed to a hospital, where she died.
“Caroline took every precaution under the sun,” Jarvis told the Northern Echo. “She was practicing social distancing, she was washing her hands, took hers and everyone’s safety seriously, was healthy — yet she was taken from us in only four days. This virus does not discriminate.”
Since the tragic loss, Jarvis has been on a mission to warn others to take the threat of COVID-19 seriously.
“People believe that because they are young and healthy they aren’t at risk but are the reality of how coronavirus can change anyone’s life,” she said.
Saunby’s extended family are in self-isolation because they have been exposed to the virus – but have been unable to secure testing to see whether they have been infected.
“My only solace is knowing that Caroline was able to meet the love of her life and have her beautiful boys who were her entire world,” Jarvis said.
